This is a fun and friendly exercise class aimed at the 65+ age group to help reduce joint and back pain, and improve mobility, balance and strength.
The class is varied each week with different exercises using equipment e.g.. hand weights, resistance bands and swiss balls (fitballs).
The Pilates method always focuses on treating each participant as an individual. We tailor each exercise to your ability and needs, and we never push you to go further than you're comfortable with. Our aim is to help you to steadily improve your health week by week, not to put you through a punishing exercise regime!
The NHS recommend Pilates as a method for strengthening muscles, and point out that muscle strength is key to developing and maintaining healthy bones. Age UK report that "regular activity can lower your risk of heart disease, stroke, some cancers, depression and dementia."
